Pipers: Nigel, Miranda, Emma, Felicity, Matt, Donny, Keith
Drummers: Bass – Keith I; Snare – Chris

The carnival at Launceston went off well with pleasant warm weather and a good crowd. We had seven pipers and two drummers. It sounded good from the start and none of the chanters needed tweaking! We kept it simple and flip-flopped between the Cockney Jocks set and the High Road to Gairloch set until we got to the ancient Southgate when we played the Scotland the Brave set to the Market Square. A tiring ascent to the top of the town this year compared to previous years, hopefully because we were leading the walkers who were with us the whole way and hastening us along the route, rather than to ageing legs and lungs!

It was good to catch up with our friends from the Bideford Youth Pipes and Drums and also local Launceston piper Keith who plays with Exmouth Pipe Band. Our thanks to the carnival team and the ladies at the Royal British Legion for the lovely buffet and much needed cups of tea!
