A good turnout of 7 pipes and 6 drums plus Kelvyn on safety for our performance on Lemon Quay Piazza to support the fund raising day by the Royal British Legion. Sounded good and was much appreciated by Maggie and Anne of the Legion who had arranged the event and hoped to exceed the £1400 that was collected last year.

Great that Sue and James travelled from Exeter to be with us again and give us the benefit of her bass drum playing. It was a cold morning so it was a team effort by Miranda, Keith and Nigel to get the band tuned up beforehand before a welcome hot drink in Weatherspoons. Solo leads by Felicity, Miranda and myself for Amazing Grace, Highland Cathedral, Tower Hill Dreams and Last of the Great Whales. Otherwise we played the Castle Dangerous, Scotland the Brave, Green Hills and Cockney Jocks sets. Thanks to Miranda, Felicity and Emma the band is improving its overall sound with the addition of harmonies which added to our performance yesterday.

A good morning’s work and for a good cause! Luckily we finished the task before any rain showers hit us and retired to Rowes Bakery for more tea and buns!
