Drummers:  Snare – James, Tenor – Fred Bass – Keith I,

Drum Major – Andrew

The weather was good on Sunday when the Band Members met up in the Quarry car park for 09.30 hours – occasionally cloudy but mostly warm and sunny with a breeze. There was a good turnout of 8 pipers, 3 drummers and drum major. Dress code was No 1s with bonnets and capes if needed.  After a tune-up the Members made their way to the Moor, to await the start of the Parade.

At 10.30 hours the Parade Marshall brought the Parade to attention and Kernow Pipes and Drums led the procession to the Church of King Charles the Martyr, followed by the 6 Standard Bearers, (from various military associations), a large contingent of Falmouth Police Cadets, and the Civic Party comprised of Mace Bearers, Mayor, Mayoress, visiting Mayors, Councillors and other Dignitaries.

The streets were quite busy and the Band sounded impressive especially with the rhythmic changes to the beating of the Drums!

On arrival at the Parish Church the Parade Marshall directed the Band to the side of the road as the Mayoral Party walked up the steps and entered the Church. During the Service a collection was taken for Age UK Falmouth and the King Charles the Martyr Church.

Meanwhile the Band was dismissed by the Pipe Major and retired to the Church Restaurant next door for refreshments kindly provided by the Church which was run by volunteers. After 45 minutes the Band formed up outside to lead the Parade down to the Events Square where the whole parade was brought to attention and dismissed by the Parade Marshall. The Band was officially thanked for attending and retired to Zizzi’s Restaurant as invited guests of the Council.

Tunes played during the morning included the following – Green Hills/Battles O’er, Scotland the Brave/Mairi’s Wedding, Cockney Jocks/Rainbow Country/ Bluebells of Scotland.
