KERNOW PIPES AND DRUMS AT TRURO ON SUNDAY MORNING 7 AUGUST 2011
ON THE OCCASION OF THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION 90TH BIRTHDAY

Pipers: Nigel, Don, David, Tom, Jason, Ian, Rob, Mike, Miranda, Keith

Drummers:  James, Geoff, Ed

It was not an encouraging forecast for the day’s events but the best weather was promised in the morning at Truro. A podium had been set up and a British Legion tent displaying goods. The band was the first event at 11 am and No 1 dress was worn without the bonnets. After their first medley of tunes the Band had an hour’s break.

The Town Crier announced the day’s plan of entertainment. There was a small parade of the British Legion flag bearers who marched past the podium and took the salute marching behind the Band. The Mayor gave a short address and the visiting clergy representative made a speech.  Soon after that the band broke up – some going home and some going to the next assignment in Newquay for that town’s RNLI event.
