Pipers: Gay, Mike, Mike, Alex, John, Adam, Nigel
Drummers: Keith, Kelvyn, Chris, Henry, Vic

The Kernows played at the Polperro Music Festival and led the colourful procession of school children and other fancy dress participants down through the village, around the harbour and back to The Green. We were lucky in that the drizzle stopped as we arrived and the day remained dry and sunny.

With only 4 pipers available initially, due to work and other commitments, we were very pleased to have 7 pipers attend on the day with Mike H taking time off from work and Gay and Mike coming down from Bideford Youth Pipes and Drums.

After a welcome drink in a local pub it was time to play a few tunes on the quayside and we entertained the crowds for about 40 minutes. We adapted our playlist to enable all pipers to keep playing, but we were still able to perform a varied and interesting programme which included a nice duet by Gay and Mike playing an Irish set and a solo by Nigel playing an RAF Centenary set. Our youngest member, Henry, delighted the crowds in leading the solo drum introduction for Highland Cathedral. Why is it that the walk back to the car park always seems so much further than the march down?

Our thanks to Gaylena and Mike. See you at Bideford in September for the Massed Bands!
