KERNOW PIPES AND DRUMS AT NEWQUAY HARBOUR LIFEBOAT DAY 7 AUGUST 2011 SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Pipers: Nigel, Don, Rob, David, Tom, Miranda, Keith

Drummers:  James, Ed

The event in Newquay started at a band member’s house where refreshments of homemade cakes and tea were served and this was very much appreciated!

It rained on the way down to the crowded quayside and still rained as the band played and marched in the drizzle to the appreciative onlookers. After a break the crowd were entertained by the local Newquay band who sat under a tent keeping very dry.

Soon there was an announcement that a spaceship was about to land and the robot Triton was coming out to meet everybody. The rain was coming in again and Triton seemed loathe to finish his act and consequently the Band’s next appearance was put back to 4 pm but the weather had worsened and after playing awhile the heavy rain had everyone running for cover. Wisely, they cut short their final performance. In spite of the weather it had been a good day in good company and everyone left for home at 4.45 pm.
